6 Things To Do If Your Mirror Is Broke: How To Manage Your High Expectations

6 Things to do if your mirror is broke: How to manage your high expectations.

Hello again, jeff noel, The Blog Whisperer, from Orlando, ready and willing to share strategies and tactics for things you can do if you don’t like what you see in your mirror.

Life is stressful. It can also be glorious. Life is monotonous. It can also be incredibly exciting. Life is full of risks and failure. It can also be full of rewards and success. At the end of the day, truth be told, the only person in charge of our lives is us. Period. Exclamation mark!

Let’s get right to this shall we:

1. Prepare yourself for pain:

  • Honesty is the best policy. Yeah, but the truth hurts. Sure it does. It can also set you free. And that’s what you seek, freedom. Manage your expectations.

2. Make lists:

  • Find a way to categorize your life. Some people call these things buckets. Others call them the big rocks.

3. Think big picture:

  • Dream. have some fun. Fantasize what noble and honorable statement should go on your gravestone (real, virtual or otherwise).

4. Benchmark:

  • Read. Study. Observe. Ask. Write. Tell. The more you look around, the more you talk about it, the more you write it down, the clearer what you want and need comes into focus.

5. Prepare to manage failure:

  • The reason we get to a critical, frustrating point to begin with is that we don’t do enough failing. Think of yourself as a scientist in a lab, experimenting. You know it takes many tries, and many failures to reach a positive outcome.

6. Prepare to manage success:

  • The long way is the short cut. Celebrate excellent failures. Punish mediocre successes. And know full well that if you stay on your journey, you will eventually get to your destination. Be prepared for victory. And remember to celebrate all those seemingly insignificant milestones (stepping stones really).

This list offers one way to manage your high expectations. It is not exhaustive, nor scientifically proven. To manage my 51 years, these are the common sense steps that I’ve made common practice. Good luck. Work hard.

So now you know. If the high expectations you have are leaving you drained, insecure, or worried, the best place to start earnest change is to go look in the mirror. The only person in charge of managing your performance is you. Learn to manage and commit to doing it well.

How to Reach Your Goals in 2011

goalsNow that the winter is rapidly coming to a conclusion and you have been busy thawing out you may feel a little behind on your New Year’s goals and objectives.

The good thing about being delayed is it gives you time to regroup and rethink about what you really need to succeed this year.

By now the holiday high and cabin fever is slowing melting away and you are most likely falling back in to the same patterns that created last year’s results that you swore you would change. If you are going strong good for you…if you are feeling a little sluggish when it comes to reaching your goals,  keep reading I have something to help you.

Reach Your Goals By Asking for What You Need

Asking for what you need is going to do several things:

  • Get you to focus on what resources you NEED right now

  • Create clarity on your next step to get results

  • Allow me to continue to help you find these resources and share information that REALLY makes a difference in your life and business

I have created a short survey to help you get organized and take a look at what YOU need to have the best year ever. Take a few moments and answer the questions I have created for you.

I promise that you will get a lot out of answering the questions for yourself and get some cool things from me through out the year.   I look forward to hearing from you.

In return I am going to give you a few  tips to get you started on your spring success.

Set an Intentions vs.  Goals

An intention is what you would like to receive at the end of each 90-day period, what you would really like to receive and have in your life.  It is the end or outcome.  Intentions are the destination.  Goals are the vehicle or the journey you take to get there.   An intention represents how will you know you are there.   It must be specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic and time-lined, based upon the 90-day guidelines.

Restore your integrity

This is the place where you want to record what you need to either release, realign or restore, in yourself or your life, in order to receive your intention of what you asked for.   Once you write down what you need to release, restore or realign, you go to the next heading, which is:

Manage your big rocks

This is where you list the five most important things that you need to manage in order to make sure everything you need and require get done.  These are what I call your big rocks.

Identify Your Six Most Important Things to Do

Under the “six most important things to do” heading, you write down what the six most important actions steps are that need to happen within this 90-day period, to prepare you to receive what you asked for.

Your Six Most Important Things to Do Are Your Goals

If you have anything under “restore your integrity”, those become part of your six most important things to do.  So if you wrote two things under “restore you integrity”, you have two of the six to-dos already listed, and you fill in the rest, so you actually have six things that are most important to be accomplished.

Receive and Succeed

If you do these things, then you have prepared yourself to receive your intention. Make sure they’re in the “S.M.A.R.T. format”. Make sure your six most important things to do are specific enough, they’re measurable, they’re worded in an actionable way, and they’re realistic based upon the 90-day time-line. Anything that you’d like to accomplish beyond the 90-day time-line, put under “future activity”, “help others”, “future planning”.   With that done, you’ve completed your success blueprint and you are ready to reach your goals and live your intentions.

What is social media really?

What is social media really?

Social media, social networking, web 2.0 are probably terms you’ve heard of, but are they useful to you?

Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter may be what you think of when you hear the buzzword “social media”. You may have decided to join the bandwagon and have a LinkedIn or Facebook profile. If you’re really hip (or you’re 17), you may even be tweeting throughout the day. But what really is social media? Why should I use it other than to do what everyone else is doing?

The answer to this will vary depending on who you ask. The academic crowd can give you a variety of information on network theories and how they apply to the newest internet technologies. I actually love the academia behind it, there is no doubt some powerful and more scientific concepts behind some of these new mediums A great introductory and fun read to this is
