Email Subject Lines -the First Step to Success With Email Marketing
Posted by Jorge in Leadership
You must be able to put together email subject lines that are able to make people want to read what you have to say; that is if you do list marketing. Even though there are many other elements that go into making your email marketing campaign successful, it all starts with the subject line. Focusing on improving your subject line is the first step that you can take towards making your email marketing campaign more profitable. We have done our work for our businesses, but we really do want to give you a boost so you can experience the success we have.
One way to make your subject lines more appealing to your prospects is to personalize them. You might think that your subscribers will open your messages simply because they know you, but remember that they may be on many lists and they won’t immediately know who an email is from by looking at the subject line. Even if your subscriber list is well established, more of your messages will get through if you take the trouble to personalize them with the first name of each subscriber. Personalizing your subject lines is a surefire way to grab the attention of your subscribers, and this is all you need to get more of your emails opened. Aesthetics do matter with marketing, so never make your subject line so long that is will not fit in the field character parameter. What you want to keep in mind as you are writing the subject line is to avoid exceeding about fifty characters. You can talk to people who will make other suggestions, so you have to make that call.
Anytime you are discovering a marketing or advertising method for the first time, it is almost always helpful to withhold judgment about it. We suppose many people are close-minded in matters like this because maybe they are arrogant or simply go through life like that. One thing we know is that some we know were skeptical about effective time management until they seriously tested it and saw the results. Yet, as individuals, we do have our preferences even if they can be based on what is not ideal, etc.
If you do lose money on some lame method that does not work, then you have learned a valuable lesson and just move on. There really are a lot of people, we assume based on what we have read, who just blindly buy things they think will work great and maybe never even try them. But as we have said, this is usually the domain of those who have not been around for long. What can also muddle the whole picture are those who had bad results using solid methods, and then those people can malign the method as being bad. This all goes along with the thought of an ounce of prevention, and it is an ounce well spent, possibly. People do not like to waste time, so be courteous and let them know something in the subject line, itself. Another aspect of this is your particular target audience, and some can and will react differently to copy. This is exactly why you should focus your efforts on making your subject line targeted and to the point so that anybody reading your email knows what you’re talking about and gets curious to open it. You can create curiosity in a lot of ways, and that also includes by telling people what is in store for them.
Subject lines play a central role in email marketing, similar to headlines in sales letters or article titles in that your first task is to capture the attention of your audience. Spending more time on your subject lines will reward you as your open rate will improve, resulting in better results and conversions as well. Try these suggestions for yourself and see how much difference they can make to your email marketing efforts.
You have just read a solid introduction to three approaches, all related to MLM email leads, that can improve your marketing on the net.
Yes, we have given you three good points in this article, but that by no means will make you competent on the subject. Whether you buy advertising or take advantage of free ads and marketing; they all need to be approached with the same degree of care and seriousness. One thing we want to mention is to avoid rushing into anything that is foreign to you and your business. So what you want to do is simply place one or two ads and see what the numbers tell you. There are enough things that we do not always have a complete picture about, so no need to make it worse than it needs to be. Actually, the sooner you embrace that advice the better off you will be.

Though the expression white is usually used to refer to a color, this is often used in numerous industries to mean various things. In seo link building, the term white would mean ethical ways of obtaining good page rank and black represents undesirable ways of obtaining the same. Whenever you try in white ways, you have to wait for the outcomes for quite a period of time. But the outcomes will stay permanently. Nevertheless whenever you go off the road, you’ll have to handle unwanted outcomes after particular time period. Though the initial success with black methods attract you, if get caught you will be penalized or even banned by search engines. So it’s usually better to steer clear from this method.
You have a set of rules framed by search engines. These rules are also called as algorithms. It makes use of particular algorithms to provide a rank to a particular web site. If your site goes beyond the ethical procedure but tricks the search engines to think that it’s following the same ethical methods is what’s called as going black.
You need to take care that all your hyperlinks build with the help of a seo service are related. You cannot develop hyperlinks in those sites that are not associated to your niche. In the event you create bad neighborhood your long term might be spoiled. You have to put the hyperlinks in the content material page of the web sites. Only such hyperlinks have good value. You need to usually try to get hyperlinks from good high quality sites. If you have hyperlinks in link farms you then are certainly going black in your ways. These link farms have more number of hyperlinks in the exact same page. They’re just produced for exchanging hyperlinks or offering hyperlinks. In the event you ought to get a link from these sites you have to give some thing else in return. Often this will be a monetary subscription. In this situation your hyperlinks won’t stay permanent in this site.
Watch out for those sites that have more than hundred hyperlinks in a single page. These sites are indeed tricking the search engines also as selling hyperlinks for cash. Whenever you quit paying your subscription you’ll have to lose all your hyperlinks inside a single day and this will affect your long term greatly. The search engines will in this situation suspect your site and will put yours in their watch list. If they discover something suspicious might ban your site completely. So to avoid these troubles usually be white in all your ways and choose wisely your seo software.

Lean Management or Convolution Theory?
Convolution Theory
Everybody has heard of Lean Manufacturing but not so many about Convolution Theory. I use the term Convolution Theory in reference to the way most large businesses operate. There is no organization more saddled with Convolution Theory however than the US Government. Convolution theory dictates that in order to show you are good at your job you need to add intelligent complexity to your job and function. One glaring example of Convolution Theory at it’s worst from my own experience is:
Case Study #1:
When I was running a Manufacturing Company in the Los Angeles, CA market one of my customers was Neutrogena which is owned by Johnson & Johnson. We had been doing business with Neutrogena for a few years and then all of a sudden we are told that we need to submit a Nationwide Johnson & Johnson bid proposal for the upcoming year or we would lose all of the business, regardless of how happy our customer was with our products and service. Not wanting to lose a good customer I agreed to go through the bidding process to keep the account. Johnson & Johnson sent me an 87 page questionnaire to fill out and 42 spreadsheets to fill out. If I didn’t fill all of them out then I could lose the business. When I filled in the answers to the questionnaire it was 127 pages long. I filled out most of the spreadsheets (some required confidential information that I was not going to disclose). Think about this. If for every business unit of a company like J&J there are 10 people bidding on the box portion of the business and each submitting over 150 pages of information, that would be over 1500 pages per business unit. How many business units does J&J have? How many other raw materials went into their products? That would amount to millions of pages of nonsense.
I can tell you right now that no purchasing manager in their right mind is going to read all 150 pages of complex information and data, memorize it and compare it to the other 9 companies that are all bidding for the process. The answers were not Yes or No and not a grading scale that could be graded by a computer. Someone (a whole army of people I would imagine) would have to read all of them and try to make a fair assessment about which supplier would be the best based on all of that information. This is CRAZY!!! NOBODY is going to read all of that information for all vendors and be able to make an intelligent decision. It is impossible. If they had a team of 5 people they would all have to understand all data for all suppliers in that product. How many hours did J&J put into this analysis? I am sure enough that they could have fired 20 people instead of engaging in such a wasteful exercise.
So why would they do such a thing. I would say one of two things were to blame (or a combination of the two). Either some egotistical purchasing GURU wanted to show how smart he was by creating a comprehensive analysis process to cover every possible base or they hired a consultant that didn’t know his @$$ from a hole in the ground and used this as a reason to rack up a huge amount of billable hours. If it was the latter, then they are a disgrace to the profession. If it is the former, somebody at the top of the food chain needs to use some common sense and say “NO!” we are not going to do this.
If they had used the Lean Management way of doing things the top 5 or so things that added the most value to J&J would have been included in the bid and the past performance of the current vendors and reference checks on prospective vendors would have been used to make the best decision. That could have been done by one person in just a handful of hours and I would bet to a better conclusion.
At the end of the process we retained the business with Neutrogena which really means that they spent countless hours reviewing thousands of pages of data, charts and written responses and did NOTHING with the information. In hindsight they could have saved a fortune in management costs, and wasted time on both ends and avoided the whole process. How a great company like J&J would get so caught up in the forest as to lose sight of the trees is mind boggling but it is only one example in one department in one company of the millions of companies out there doing the same thing.
Last Friday they were going to shut down the Government due to lack of funds. They did that once before quite a number of years ago. They shut down “All Non-Essential Operations” for a period of time. My big question is… If they were non-essential, then why did they start them back up when the crisis was over? Why? Politics. No politician wants to put people out of work even if they accomplish nothing all day but pushing papers that no one will ever read.
Lean Management
I use the term Lean Management to refer to the use of Lean Manufacturing techniques in an entire organization. The same philosophies that work so well in manufacturing work equally as well in an office, call center, service business, etc.
The theories behind the Lean Management approach have been around for decades before they were ever called lean. The idea behind Lean processes is to remove everything that is not value added. If it doesn’t add value then it must be waste. This challenges the traditional wisdom practiced in most companies today, even including fortune 500 corporations. Leaner flatter organizations respond much quicker and operate much more efficiently than other organizations. The idea is to eliminate everything you can and make it simple.
This can be taken too far as well. When visiting a Lean Managed Company (name withheld) it was apparent that they had some very ineffective employees working there. I asked how they could possibly consider themselves a lean company if they were not efficient. They went on to tell me how they had eliminated most of their documented processes and reduced their staff to the point that people were overworked (Lean at it’s worst) and because they didn’t have documented procedures and job descriptions they couldn’t effectively hold people accountable for their performance.
This company was so Lean they were Fat. When people are starving and malnutritioned their bellys can expand from malnutrition instead of fat. That is what happened to this company. They were so focused on the Lean Process that they lost all sight of the purpose of Lean to begin with.
The Balance of Lean Management vs Convolution Theory
The goal of Lean Management or Lean Manufacturing is to eliminate all forms of waste, from wasted time, effort, people, processes, paperwork, etc. and make it simple and manageable. Many convoluted processes are to protect us from ourselves. Ninety percent of the rules in an operation are to deal with the ten percent that cause ninety percent of the problems. The first thing you should do is get rid of those ten percent right now. Then simplify your processes utilizing the many Lean Manufacturing and Lean Management techniques to improve efficiency, sales, profit, cost and happiness of the entire team.
Put your ego in your pocket and don’t complicate a process that doesn’t need to be complicated. Simple is better.

Some workplace relationships are simply to be endured. I was discussing how to persevere in relationships with a more experienced group this week. It was agreed that workplace relationships are the trickiest relationships of all – and this came from a group of mostly married people.
If the workplace relationship is an especially challenging one at our place of employment, how do we Stick To It – No Matter What?
The situation gets trickier still when one of the people in that challenging relationship hands the other person her or his paycheck. Those situations require a little more finesse. Today we’ll concentrate on strained coworker, peer to peer, relationships.
Stick To It when workplace relationships can’t be ignored.
Thankfully, most workplace relationships are not ones I’ve wanted to ignore. I was fortunate that in my 20-odd employee working years on the job, I was surrounded by a lot of really great people in the form of coworkers and managers. Many became close friends.
However, I experienced my share of workplace relationships that fell to the other extreme. Those are the ones that make office hours, and after-office hours, miserable.
The very relationships you want to desperately ignore are ones you decidedly can’t. Paying the mortgage depends on it.
Assuming you’ve tried everything to professionally and maturely work together, and the vibe is not there, and never will be, the best you can do is accept it for what it is. Know it will not change and work around that person as best you can.
Stick To It when direct communication within strained workplace relationships is challenging.
When you do have to work together or have direct communication, keep it brief, on task, professional, and walk away when the required business is done.
No need to linger, no need for small talk, no need to extend the pain any longer than is necessary for either of you. The other person wants to be done with you as quickly as you do with them. Let them. By all means, help them toward that mutual goal.
Don’t get distracted by their desire to draw you into a disagreement. Stick to the plan. Stick to the point of the conversation. And then be done with it.
Stick To It when a workplace relationship is otherwise non-productive.
Sticking to a workplace relationship may mean letting go of any non-productive part of it and concentrating only on the good that comes from it. If it’s a strained work relationship, focus on only that part of it necessary to get the job done.
I recall one or two specific workplace relationships where each of us nearly visibly bristled when approached by, or needed to approach, the other party. It wasn’t pretty.
The conversations were brief, to the point and devoid of niceties. Sometimes that’s the best that can be done. Our positions required infrequent but necessary interaction, equally loathed by each person.
There may be no good reason for the animosity. Some personalities don’t jibe and never will. It’s not necessarily a reflection on either party. It simply is what it is. Sticking to some kind of plan to get and give the required information for the job requires as much perseverance as any other effort.
In strained workplace relationships, make a plan to get the job done, and Stick To It – No Matter What.

Are women better at marketing themselves than men?
I have found that women are MUCH MORE WILLING to “put their money where their mouth is” when it comes to marketing themselves or their services. Is it possible they feel a greater NEED? Why is there such a difference?
Okay, guys, don’t take this the wrong way, but I think it comes down to how boys and girls are raised and the male ego. We all know the differences between men and women are ENDLESS! (Thank goodness, for the most part.) But I have found that women accept that they often have to work harder and pony-up for greater marketing exposure than the average man. Men are raised to be naturally self-promoting. They learn early in life to stand up for themselves and to be more aggressive. Their egos carry them through battles unlike anything women have to deal with.
Is it natural for women to become better at marketing themselves?
Women, as little girls, are often raised to be gentle and delicate. When those women grow up and enter the workforce, they find that they must speak up and tell the world that they count, that they are smart, and that they can do the job (whatever that job may be). These qualities are expected from men. But, if a woman doesn’t take control of the necessary marketing for herself, who will? Women often feel the need to tell the world about their strengths.
Women have also been found to be better at NETWORK marketing because they are better at building relationships.
Women take business more personally, which may not always be a good thing, but it does result in deeper, more personalized business connections.
A study by Copernicus Marketing said that women are better listeners, more collaborative, they understand the importance of developing an emotional connection with a brand (or themselves), and that they have been socialized as “influencers,” whereas “men tend to demonstrate managerial qualities that reflect a more military-like command and control.” It’s just natural for men to EXPECT to ascend to leadership (or managerial) positions. Do men become leaders because of their expectations?
I offer motivational speakers many marketing opportunities. The women who sign up outnumber the men by as much as 3-to-1 most of the time. Are there other explanations? Perhaps men prefer to handle their marketing by working with other men, instead of working with women. Do you find that you are more comfortable working with the same sex when marketing your business?

5 Tips for creating balance in your life:

These days, finding life-work balance seems more elusive than ever.
Hello everyone, jeff noel, The Blog Whisperer, from Orlando, returning for another chance to help you help yourself. This post is about a topic nearly everyone struggles with – life-work “balance”. Here are 5 common sense tips I’ve learned from a lifetime of trying (and failing), observing, and studying others.
First: You should know I believe life-work stability is not a permanent address. You will not arrive and stay in a state of life-work balance. Balance is often like a pendulum swinging back and forth – as life’s challenges ebb and flow. Admitting this will make your efforts and results more realistic.
Second: The long way is the short cut. If you think there are short cuts, you might as well stop reading now.
Ok, so lets get to these 5 tips, Life’s Big Choices I call them:
1. Mental Balance:
- Seriously evaluate the people you associate with, the language you use, the things you watch, the things you read. All of these contribute to the habit of seeing the glass half-empty or half-full. You have a mental responsibility to manage this. It will require focus and discipline – and maybe some painful choices.
2. Physical Balance:
- Your body is a temple, a gift, a vessel. Ignoring or denying this sets you up for failure, big time. We’re talking the basics here: regular exercise, adequate rest (yes, rest is under-rated), proper nutrition. And how about a few fundamental health metrics like: BMI, cholesterol, triglycerides, resting heart rate.
3. Emotional Balance:
- Also known as spiritual essence. This is the part of us that longs to be loved and compels us to want to love others. We judge ourselves on our intentions – what we are going to do “some day”. Others are judging us by what we have already done. In other words, what you do thunders so loudly, I can’t hear what you say.
4. Financial Balance:
- Also known as our J.O.B. Every ant in the ant colony, every bee in the bee hive – all make a contribution. Same with humans. In our world, society pays us money for our contribution. As Abraham Lincoln said, “Whatever you are, be a good one”. Oh, and one more thing, spend less than you earn.
5. Administrative Balance:
- I call this your personal Head Quarters, or HQ for short. This is all the stuff that doesn’t fall neatly into the other four. The paperwork of life. It’s about being decently (not compulsively) organized, to keep up with life’s reality – there is a never-ending flow of stuff to deal with.
One more important thing before wrapping this up. Sort of like a bonus revelation. You must find your own way. If you are looking for the steps, a manual, the recipe – you will never bask in the glow of knowing both defeat and victory. And if you expect your children (or nieces, nephews) to be successful at this, know they will look at you and say one of two things: You we a glorious example or a terrible warning.
