That is an excellent article. I learned more about maximizing my networking in those lines than I did in all of the other books and articles I have invested in combined.

What happen to me was I accidently hit Import all my yahoo contacts without thinking and it sent my invitations to everyone in my address book. I forgot to de-select the linkedin import features from the emails I did not want to invite like that.

Dr. Wilkins,

Always remember to use the No.1 rule, be unselfish. If you transfer this rule to your online networking you'll be just fine.

The skills I'll share with you, that’s the easy part! Just keep reading the blog.

Kate,

Thanks for you post. You are right! Especially about "One never knows when one may be able to use that information, that person or company…".

It is so important to network and remember others in the networking activities. Nowadays technology makes it so easy to network with hundreds or thousands of people at once. We have to be diligent at keeping track of all our contacts and add, most importantly; add value to all of them. Not easy, but necessary.

I couldn't agree more with Jorge.

I enjoy reading comments and posts that offer information or opportunities, and even though I may not be able to use them at the time, they do stick in my mind, and I usually link to the individual who has posted something that captures my interest.

One never knows when one may be able to use that information, that person or company, or when one may run into someone else who could. Make it worth my while!
